This is meaningful as it marks the second consecutive year in which the best paper award was presented to a paper belonging to a research group at KAIST\u2019s School of Electrical Engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The backscatter technology described by this research team can greatly reduce the maintenance cost as it operates on ultra-lower power of less than 10 \u03bcW, being able to run on a single battery for more than 40 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">By enabling connectivity on a scale that far exceeds the network density required by next gen communication technologies such as 5G and 6G, this system may serve as a great potential for serving as a stepping stone for the upcoming hyperconnected era.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cmmWave backscattering is a dreamlike technology that can run IoT devices on a large scale, which can drive massive communications at ultra-low power compared to any other technology,\u201d said Professor Song Min Kim. \u201cWe hope that this technology will be actively used for the upcoming era of Internet of Things,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The research was made possible by the funding from Samsung Future Technology Development Project and the Institute for Information &amp; Communication Technology Planning &amp; Evalution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132150\" src=\"http:\/\/ee.presscat.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/\uc5f0\uad6c\uc131\uacfc\ub3c4_mage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"378\" title=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ee.presscat.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/\uc5f0\uad6c\uc131\uacfc\ub3c4_mage.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/ee.presscat.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/\uc5f0\uad6c\uc131\uacfc\ub3c4_mage-300x113.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ee.presscat.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/\uc5f0\uad6c\uc131\uacfc\ub3c4_mage-768x290.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\">[Fig 1.
