The research teams led by Prof. Yung Yi and Prof. Song
\nChong have been awarded the 2016 IEEE William R. Bennett Prize, which is the
\nmost prestigious award in the fields of communication network. This research
\nwas co-conducted by a KAIST graduate Kyounghan Lee, who is currently a
\nprofessor at UNIST, Dr. Joohyun Lee, a postdoctoral researcher at Ohio State
\nUniversity, and Injong Rhee, a vice president of Samsung Electronics Mobile
\nDivision.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

IEEE William R. Bennett Prize is awarded annually by the
\nIEEE Communications Society for the best paper <\/span>\u2013 based on quality, originality, scientific citation
\nindex, and peer reviews – published in the previous three years in the fields
\nof communications. Among the previous award winners are Robert Gallager of MIT,
\nSachin Katti of Stanford, and Ion Stoica of the University of California
\nBerkely. Especially, it is noteworthy that the authors had previously received
\nthe award back in 2013, making them the second ever to win the IEEE William R.
\nBennett Prize twice.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They had the honor of receiving this award by their work
\nregarding <\/span>\u2018Mobile
\ndata offloading: How much can WiFi deliver?<\/span>\u2019 which has
\nbeen cited for more than 500 times since its publication in 2013. The paper
\nproposed an original method to effectively offload the cellular network and
\nmaximize the Wi-Fi network usage by analyzing the pattern of individual human
\nmobility in daily life.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The award ceremony for IEEE William R. Bennett Prize will
\ntake place at the IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), to be
\nheld in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
