PhD Kiseok Song (advisor : Hoi-Jun Yoo)  received Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award. He has published around 30 papers and 10 patents.<\/p>\n

Recognizing, Rewarding and Inspiring Young Scholars<\/h3>\n

Most scientists today agree that basic research is not being supported as it should be. Long relied-upon funding sources for basic research are increasingly focused on shorter-term payoffs, and are being cut back even as needs and opportunities accelerate. The Marconi Society can make a difference by strongly advocating for more public and private investment in science education and research and by becoming a source of mentorship and encouragement for top students in the field.<\/p>\n

In 2008, with a generous donation from 2007 Marconi Fellow Professor Ron Rivest<\/font><\/u><\/a>, we created and launched the Young Scholars Award<\/strong>, selecting four scholars at U.S. universities to receive financial stipends and travel funds to attend our annual Awards Gala and to connect with some of the most sought-after mentors in the world, Marconi Fellows<\/font><\/u><\/a>. Young Scholars make a commitment to remain involved in our organization, to attend future events, and to help us reach out and motivate other exceptional young scholars.<\/p>\n
