Electrical Engineering (EE) at KAIST, \u2018the cradle of innovation leading to a better world\u2019. Since the founding of KAIST in 1971 with the vision of transitioning Republic of Korea into an industrialized country through research-focused science and technology education, our School has played a pioneering and central role in establishing today&#8217;s Korea as an &#8216;IT Powerhouse.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Advancements in fundamental theories and groundbreaking innovations in various academic disciplines have provided the foundation for today\u2019s technology. It has been the field of electrical engineering that has played a key role in transforming these foundations into real-world applications that enrich our lives. It integrates elemental technologies from multiple domains into a system-level technology. We are also home for the \u2018Department of Semiconductor Systems Engineering,\u2019 the \u2018Graduate School of Semiconductor Technology,\u2019 and the \u2018Graduate School of AI Semiconductor,\u2019 which were established to foster talent in the national strategic fields of semiconductor devices, processes, and design technologies. With over 90 world-class professors, 70 honorary, research, and invited faculty members, 2,800 highly talented students, and a dedicated administrative and technical support team of approximately 20 members, we are committed to make breakthroughs in key technologies for our better future. By diligently fulfilling our roles and responsibilities and respecting each other as partners, we are striving to further solidify the academic excellence we have built over the years.<\/p>\n<p>As a hub of innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration, many successful startups have been born out of our research labs and bright minds. In addition, we operate industry-linked talent development programs in cooperation with Samsung Semiconductor (EPSS), SK Hynix (KEPSI), LG Display (LGenius), and Samsung Display (EPSD). Through \u2018EE Externship\u2019 program, which provides internships at startups, and the \u2018Co-op\u2019 program, a long-term industrial field experience program, students can learn how the foundational knowledge acquired in classrooms and technological innovations developed in laboratories transform to create unprecedented value in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>Our School was the first among major domestic universities in the electrical engineering field to hire female faculty members. We now have seven female faculty members, thirteen international faculty members, and over 200 outstanding international students from various countries.
