youngsuk son and yongjoon jun (advisor: Professor Cho, Gyu-Hyeong) a Ph.D. student of Department of Electrical Engineering of KAIST, won the MOCIE(Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy) minister prize, at 7th semiconductor design contest hold from KIPO(Korean Intellectual Property Office )

Abstract:
Offering wide viewing angle, fast response, low power consumption, and thinness, AMOLED displays hold promise as next generation flat panel displays. Compared to LCDs, PDPs, and CRTs, however, the quality of AMOLED displays from a display uniformity point of view is not satisfactory.
In this design contest, the novel data driving scheme and driving circuits are proposed and verified with electrical experiments for enhancing display quality and lifetime of AMOLEDs. The concept of the novel driving scheme is named Transient Cancellation Feedback (TCF) and published in SID2006.
The proposed TCF driving scheme provides unique Active-Matrix architectures and overcomes the limitation of traditional approaches.
The data driving speed in conventional current-mode driving methods is dramatically enhanced by the proposed TCF driving and the achieved performance of the driving circuits is applicable to the commercial products.
The progress of the display quality and lifetime of AMOLEDs are expected with the application of TCF driving to AMOLEDs.
