Professor Jong-Hwan Kim received “Presidential Citation” for celebrating "33rd Information Culture Month 2020"

Professor Jong-Hwan Kim of our faculty received the “Presidential Citation” for information culture contribution at the ceremony of “33rd Information Culture Month 2020”, held jointly by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Information Society Agency on June 22. At the event held under the theme of “Korea becoming one by digital. Enjoying the world of digital inclusion together”, ICT Minister Ki-young Choi and standing committee member Wook Heo of the Korea Communications Commission attended the ceremony.
This award is a prize awarded to those who have contributed to the development of the inclusive digital society and the information culture. Since joining KAIST, Professor Jong-Hwan Kim has created Robot Soccer, International Robot Olympiad, and AI World Cup. He received the presidential citation for his contribution to improving the level of informatization, creating a healthy information culture, and reducing the digital information gap.
On the other hand, Professor Jong-Hwan Kim was selected as a torchbearer of the 2002 Asian Games in recognition of his achievements in popularizing science and technology, such as the creation of robot soccer. 
Professor Jong-Hwan Kim continues to spread a positive public impact on developing the information culture.
