Lunit, a medical and artificial intelligence company established by co-founders from the School of Electrical Engineering, was featured in the American economic magazine Forbes in their April 30th, 2019 issue.
Lunit is a portmanteau of the words “Learning” and “Unit”, and the company was founded by deep-training experts from KAIST in 2013. It is led by co-founders from our undergraduate school, and it is the only Korean company to have been selected as a ‘Top 100 Global Artificial Intelligence Company’ by CB Insight Company.
Forbes introduced Lunit by saying, “There is a company that overcomes cancer diagnosis, the most complex challenge of artificial intelligence, in a unique way.” Forbes also mentioned Lunit’s solution, which can detect breast and lung cancers with 97% accuracy, and can also predict cancer prognosis. Lunit released Lunit INSIGHT, the world’s first AI diagnosis solution for lung cancer, in November of 2017 at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). It has been introduced in more than 70 countries and has also been used at many hospitals in Korea such as Seoul National University Hospital.
